The Great European Photo Excursion: Top 5 Countries to Photograph or Film in Europe

IDL TIFF fileEurope, one of the seven continents in the world, has an area of over 10,000,000 km². It is bordered by a part of Asia to the east, the Arctic Ocean on its north, the Mediterranean to its south and the great Atlantic to the west. As of the moment, it consists of 50 different countries.

As a photographer, it can be pretty difficult to point out which country to visit first. To help you decide, here is a list of five countries in Europe that are perfect for filming or taking photos.

England

From prehistoric structures like the Stonehenge to the beautiful mansions and estates of the Regency era plus the modern hustle and bustle of London, England is without a doubt, one of the best places for tourists and photographers.

Scotland

This country located in the North of England has some of the most rugged landscapes in the whole continent. Take your steadicam & dslr rig and trek through the wide moors and mountains, lush greenery and deep lochs of the Scots. They also have castles like those in the very dignified Edinburgh but their customs and traditions, interestingly, continue to live on.

France

This country has more to offer than just food and wine – although it does have the best in the world. The Louvre in Paris, Versailles, Strasbourg and so many more are must-sees. This is also the home and birthing place of fashion so you’ll really need those video equipment and lighting kit if you’re planning to do photo shoots.

Italy

Driving up the Amalfi Coast, wine tasting in Tuscany’s Chianti, listening to the romantic strains of a gondolier’s song, swimming in the cool waters of Lake Como…there are so many things that you can do in Italy. You may need to bring your video camera complete with the follow focus and all because there are just so many things that must be captured on film.

Turkey

A lot of people think that Turkey is in Asia; actually, it is part of Europe. But this is exactly is what makes this country very interesting when it comes to photography and videography. This is the place where East literally meets West. And you can see this in their food, culture, religion and so many more.

If you are planning to travel to Europe to take photos of the best places in the continent, you will need to save a lot because it can be pretty expensive. But once you have done this, start your photo journey immediately because this will definitely be the best time of your life.
